Meat Lover's Pizza Dip
  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ pound ground Italian sausage
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves (1 teaspoon) garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (14 ounces) pizza sauce
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • 8 ounces fresh Mozzarella, sliced
  • 20-22 slices pepperoni (enough to cover the top)
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  1. Combine the cream cheese, sour cream and grated Parmesan cheese in a bowl and mix well. Spread into the bottom of a deep dish pie plate.
  2. Meanwhile, in a medium skillet brown the Italian sausage with the onion and garlic. When the sausage is cooked through add the pizza sauce and the basil and oregano. Cook for about 5-6 minutes to heat and allow the flavors to blend. Spread over the top of the cream cheese mixture.
  3. Top with the slices of fresh mozzarella and then the pepperoni. Sprinkle the cooked bacon over the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
  4. Serve with bread sticks and crackers.
  5. Cook's Note: Be sure to use fresh mozzarella, trust me on this one, it makes it!
